From Wollondilly to Wangaratta. Cocklebiddy to Cudlee Creek. Kangaroo Island to Kangaroo Valley. Emergency Services and Volunteer Firefighters bravely gave their all to protect the homes and lives of fellow Australians.
Given the scale of this recent disaster, the recovery will take time and we are committed to continued support of the affected communities and those who are helping to rebuild them.
Some of the other initiatives we are supporting include:
- $250,000 to animal welfare and rescue organisations and in partnership with the NSW State Government, Foodbank and WWF-Australia, Woolworths is supplying tonnes of fresh vegetables to be dropped into national parks to feed endangered native wildlife impacted by the fires.
- Wooworths with BIG W, has committed to provide $200,000 in gift cards for schools in affected areas. This support will enable schools to provide support to local families and communities as kids return for the school year.
- Ongoing support to local communities in impacted areas through donations of products to rural fire crews, charities, customers and evacuation centres.
We have expanded our S.T.A.N.D program to support a range of charities who provide their respective expertise and support communities impacted in times of natural disaster.
The Salvation Army’s Emergency Services teams provide practical assistance and emotional support to those affected in times of natural disaster.
Rural Aid continues to focus its efforts on providing impacted farmers and their families with stock feed, household assistance, water supplies and wellbeing support.
Lifeline has a national network of crisis supporters and provides universal mental health support, both via its 13 11 14 phone, chat and text service and face to face counselling.
Foodbank addresses food insecurity through the provision of fresh food, key staples and essentials.
In addition to working with these charities, we are also working with WIRES who are supporting the rescue and recovery of wildlife impacted by the fires.
